Mission Statement

A Different Road was founded by the parents of an autistic child, and all those family members and close friends that have been deeply moved or affected by the quest for recovery for their son.

Our mission is to provide information and raise funds for alternative therapies that have proven successful in the treatment of autism, as well as build a community of parents to share information regarding such, so that we may navigate the road together, even when we take alternative routes. The alternative and innovative therapies include but are not limited to holistic/energy approaches to healing, biomedical protocols, educational therapies, and natural, environmental healing.

Upon entrance into the autistic community, parents are given very few alternatives on how to help their children. Through personal experience and the experiences of other parents, we have found alternative therapies that can and do help. We continue to research therapies and the like in the efforts to expand our repertoire of information. It is our belief that no one therapy is the cure, but that with the right combination, children are able to near recovery or recover fully. We believe that parents must have choices as to how they are going to help their children, and that they are indeed the ones who know best what will prove most beneficial for their child. What works for one child, certainly does not work for all, as autism is very complex and individual, as much so as the beautiful children who have it. Parents need to have choices and to feel confident making them, after all, parents are the ones who know their special child’s beautiful and unique qualities, as well as that child’s often very unique manifestation of autistic traits.
